International Museum Day

Did you enjoy yourself? More on International Museum Day.
On Sunday, May 18, 2014

Didn't make it to your favorite museum, found a fascinating object that needs to be examined closer or you simply want to see more? It is still possible to do all of these things on the Sunday following the Long Night of Museums. For the first time, the Long Night takes place on the night before International Museum Day and approximately 80 museums invite guests on Sunday to participate in special programs. The best part: The Long Night Ticket can be used on International Museum Day to enter the museums that participated in the Long Night and are also open on Sundays (exceptions: Geschichtsspeicher Fichtebunker, Planetarium am Insulaner, Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte and Zoo-Aquarium). About 15 of the 80 museums offer programs exclusively on Museum Day, so it is worthwhile to take a look at the programs being offered: For those who have yet to go to bed, guests can go on a morning hike at 5 a.m. with the employees of the Berliner Waldmuseum. Later in the morning, memorials such as Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz, Dokumentationszentrum NS-Zwangsarbeit or the Erinnerungsstätte Notaufnahmelager Marienfelde invite visitors to guided tours, presentations and activities. The Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Spandau auf der Zitadelle offers something completely new: On Sunday, the museum's new permanent exhibit »Tafeln zur Zeit Lynars« will be opened. Likewise, the Tauchermuseum in Grünau will be open on Sunday for the first time to the general public. The AlliiertenMuseum guides through its depot at the Tempelhof Airport, Spandovia Sacra opens its Gothic Cellar that is normally not accessible by the general public. The Freimaurermuseum der Großen National-Mutterloge »Zu den drei Weltkugeln« which is also normally not open to the public, invites guests to take part in guided tours and to attend presentations. The complete program (only in German) for International Museum Day can be found at
